THE OPENING OF BUTUKA ACADEMY
I welcome you to Port Moresby President Xi Jinping and your delegation to our Amazing Port Moresby. It is such a great honour to have you visit our country Papua New Guinea.
It is indeed a historical moment for us to be in your presence in Port Moresby to open this outstanding academy for our children and their future.
On behalf of the people of Port Moresby, my management and staff, I offer you our humble gratitude and gracious welcome to our land of a 1000 tribe and 860 languages.
One year ago I signed on behalf of Port Moresby, a sister city relationship with your bustling city of Shenzhen. Back than I did not imagine that we would be honoured with such an outstanding facility, and also to have the President of the People’s Republic of China himself gracing us with his presence in opening this wonderful facility.
We thank you for this honour and privilege.
I would also like to thank the Papua New Guinea Prime Minister, Hon. Peter O’neill for his bold and courageous decision to host the APEC this year, which has paved the way to have your Excellency to be our special guest to open this facility.
Not only is this an outstanding facility, but it is one that sets new standards for education in our country. Importantly it is a testament to the warm, growing relationship between our people and our counties represented by two great Cities of our respective countries, the great city of Shenzhen and the Amazing City of Port Moresby.
This facility and your presence Mr President will cement forever, the relationship between our two cities and our people. It is an investment for the future in the education of our children and it is an investment in the relationship between our two cities and people.
I am confident that your presence here today and the opening of this academy, is the beginning of many other great opportunities to come between China and Papua New Guinea.
On behalf of our children and the people of Port Moresby, I thank your county, your people and municipal Government of Shenzhen for this great gift.
