NATIONAL Capital District Governor Powes Parkop has set 2025 as the year to eradicate all settlements in Port Moresby.

Parkop said this during the launching of a programme to turn all settlements in NCD to suburbs.
This is being done in partnership with Moresby-South MP Justin Tkatchenko, Moresby North-East MP John Kaupa and key Government agencies.

The event was witnessed by a large turnout of settlers.
Parkop said the launching marked the beginning of a journey of hard work.

“It is a beginning of a journey of hard work to convert all our settlements in the city to suburbs,” he said.
“This is the thing we all have been waiting for many years. We will get rid of all settlements in Port Moresby and convert them into suburbs.

“This launching is a milestone achievement for the people of Port Moresby and PNG.
“It is made possible through the support of our Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.”
