Vanuatu PM Launches Policy Documents

by mnews

Several important national documents have been launched recently by Prime Minister (PM), Charlot Salwai, to support the implementation of the National Sustainable Development Plan (NSDP).

Also referred to as ‘Vanuatu 2030, the People’s Plan’, the NSDP is the country’s highest policy framework. It sets out the vision for the future development of Vanuatu within the next 15 years.

The National Planning Framework (NPF), National Monitoring and Evaluation Policy (MEP), National Records and Information Management Policy (NRIMP), Vanuatu 2030 Communications and Engagement Strategy and Action Plan (VCESAP) were developed as foundation to guide the government and development partners on how to implement the overarching NSDP.

The draft National Human Resource Development Plan is near completion and will be endorsed at a later time, including the National Disaster Framework.

The development of these frameworks are facilitated by the Department of Strategic Planning and Aid Policy Coordination (DESPAC) under the PM’s Office.

People at the provincial and local authorities including the community contributed to the planning and policy development with assistance from donor partners.

These frameworks align with the global sustainable sustainable development goals. They will guide development partners to align their programs to the vision, goals and objectives of the main policy.

PM Salwai said the NSDP reflects the desire of all people across the country and will guide decision makers in leading development.

During the launching event last Friday, PM Salwai also launched the Annual Development Report for 2017 and the NSDP Early Phase Communication Products such as logos and banners.

The Deputy Prime and Minister of Trades and Business, Bob Loughman, Minister of Internal Affairs Andrew Napuat and other other high officials from the government, private and civil sector attended the launch.
