Six new ministers will be sworn into the National Executive Council today as Prime Minister Hon. James Marape implements a significant Cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening government performance, accountability, and service delivery.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at Government House at 9:00am and forms part of a broader government restructuring announced by the Prime Minister.
The outgoing ministers are:
- Hon. Simoi Kilepa
- Hon. Timothy Masiu
- Hon. Kessy Sawang
- Hon. Lucas Dawa
- Hon. Joe Kuli
- Hon. Sekie Agisa
Government sources indicate that the changes follow an internal review of ministerial performance, Cabinet attendance, electoral responsibilities, and health-related considerations.
The incoming ministers to be sworn in are:
- Hon. Saki Soloma
- Hon. Agena Ganai
- Hon. Douglas Tomuriesa
- Hon. Francis Kikin
- Hon. Robert Naguri
- Hon. John Kaupa
The reshuffle is also expected to include significant portfolio reallocations across key sectors of government, with reports indicating that a dedicated minister may be appointed to focus on addressing the ongoing operational and service delivery challenges facing PNG Power.
Prime Minister Marape has previously stated that the restructuring is intended to improve coordination across government agencies, strengthen ministerial accountability, and accelerate the implementation of priority national projects as Papua New Guinea approaches the 2027 National General Election.
