Peter O’Neill: Christmas a time for Community; Children and Church

by admin
This Christmas, many in our country are facing tough times. No matter whether we are richor struggling, we can all rejoice in the simple things in life – our community, our children, family, and faith.
As children, most of us remember Christmas not for the presents or those traditions invented thousands of miles away from our Papua New Guinea, but we fondly remember gathering for Church services and to take some time to reflect and share in food with family and friends.
The best memories I have, and I am sure the same for you, are the times when my family and friends come together to share stories and food and find happiness in genuine connection.
Laughter really is the best medicine and I hope you all find time to have a good time with family and friends this Christmas and New Year.
The sparkly decorations and gifts really are not what Christmas is about. Being together Reflecting, laughing, and sharing in the true meaning of Christmas, the Birth of Jesus Christ, the son of God and the celebration of love, hope and joy he brought to the World.
2025 is going to be a difficult one with many facing hardship and the anxiety of not feeling safe as law-and-order issues continue to challenge all of us.
Take this Christmas and New Year time to make plans for next year to do what you can to keep your family safe and healthy.
“Iwish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous 2025.
God bless our country.
