Port Vila Mayor Jenny Tasale Regenvanu has shared her condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones to the earthquake.
She asked that everyone take a minute of silence to honor and remember the victims.
The lady mayor said that the Port Vila City Council is working with other authorities and stakeholders to address the situation.
She urged residents to be patient, pray and collaborate with essential service providers as they work to ensure public safety.
“May God help us recover from the situation,” said the mayor.
The 7.3 magnitude earthquake, struck near Port Vila, caused significant devastation. At least 14 deaths have been confirmed so far, with over 200 people injured.
